It’s Been a Rough Day - My Dog, Ein Needs Surgery
16 12 2008I’m going to keep this short because I’ve been posting about it all day…
Last night, my girlfriend and I were up all night with our 6-month-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy, Ein, who was in excrutiating pain, trying to pass an unpassable bladder stone.
After a Vet visit, more stones were found, and out of all the options, surgery is the only option that can get rid of the stones now, not put him in potentially more pain, and also help the doctor find the cause of the stones/infection, and ways to prevent it from re-occuring.
Many of the visits to my blog lately have been due in large part to the free release of the 8-Bit Jesus album preview, and I must thank everyone who has downloaded the album and left amazingly positive feedback (so much that my server overloaded). I’ve had a number of people ask why I was just giving it away, and many others who would have bought it were it for sale. I am planning a full release (which will also be free to download, $15 donation for the full version) come December 20th, but with the surgery, I may not be able to afford to pay my bills next month, let alone the costs to produce even a limited number of copies of the album.
Basically, i’m asking anyone who would donate money for the full album, or even for the preview (as some have mentioned they would have), to do so now. It’s the same deal as the official release, and those that donate $15 or more will receive a physical copy of the album as well as access to the free download of the full album along with everyone else on December 20th. Include a note that mentions that you read this post before donating, so I can make a list of people who I owe big time for helping my puppy.

Sorry to hear about the pup. I hope he feels better soon (you, too!). Check yer PayPal.
I’d love to pitch some in before the 20th, but I — being a college student with no job — have little money. After January-ish, I’ll have a bit though, and I can donate some then. I hope it still helps.
So the full release will be available for free? Or will it require a $15 donation?
Or is the $15 donation only required to get a physical copy of the album?
Do we need to include a shipping address in the paypal payment?
I’m confused.
I’m sorry to here about little Ein, he sure is cute. I’ll be sure to spread the word that your little guy is in need.
Thanks for the 8-bit Jesus sampler, keep on Roc’n.
I too, am broke, but I’ll do what I can! I’ll post a story to notify peeps who downloaded originally to do what they can!
Steven - Thank you so much for your kindness.
Dru89 - No worries. I will have the album available for some time, so whenever you can is fine.
La di Da - The full album is also a free download, with the option to make a donation. A $15 or more donation also gets you a physical copy, in which case an address would be required to get it. I’m keeping good track of every payment that comes through so don’t worry, everyone will get their copy, or an email requesting an address to send the album.
Matt - Thanks for spreading the word.
OtakuDad - I always appreciate your help. Thanks for getting in touch with those people for me
You have the same dog from Cowboy Bebop and gave it the same name. That’s just awesome. Please check your PayPal for my $15 donation and pass my well-wishes along to your wonderful dog.
I sent you a donation on your paypal… I really really hope your puppy makes it out alright
Also sent you a donation. Hope you will have a Merry Christmas!
Dave, Sweden
Good luck with the operation, I hope the donation helps.
keep up the great work and have a great Christmas!

Hey man, I’ve put up the posting! Good luck! http://otakudad.wordpress.com/2008/12/18/doctor-octoroc-needs-your-help/
Hope Ein gets well soon. Just made a donation and twittered it. Hope more donations come your way
Sent you a PayPal donation and posted your story on my site. Hope everything turns out fine! <3
Hi. You don’t know me, but I’ve enjoyed your Christmas chiptunes, so I’ve made a donation. Don’t send me a physical copy of the album — save your money/resources. I hope your dog makes a full recovery
-Stephen
could you post an update on how much you’ve raised and how much you need? It’ll help me decide how much to give. That’s such a sad story I want a Welsh Corgi very badly for months now i’d love to help you out
Merry Christmas
Sorry to hear about your puppy, Doc. I had the same thing happen to my old dog about a month after I got him. Once the stones are removed, the vet can give you some stuff to put on the food to help dissolve future stones and you’ll probably have to put your pup on a diet.
That’s what I had to do. Unfortunately my ex has that dog now, so he deals with the diet and sprinkles. Hope everything works out.
I wish I could donate to the cause but I’m off work sick and I just spent $280 on removing growths from my current puppy’s body. Animals are wonderful but so expensive.
We, spriters need to hold a charity event or something and sell some craft pieces for ya.

Hope it helps. Let us know how Ein is.
Hope all is well. You should have a Paypal and email from us.
I hope Ein will get well soon. As I don’t have much myself this year I only gave a little, but I hope it helps.
Thanks for the great work with the 8-Bit Jesus Album, too!
I originally came just for your music, but when I read about your puppy I was compelled to make a donation. I have a 3-month-old corgi puppy myself, and the thought of your sick baby made my heart ache. I hope the donation helps and that Ein will be okay. Thank you so much for giving your work to the world. Listening to it will be that much more meaningful now.
I found your page via Jude Buffum’s blog and made a donation on behalf of my pet bakery, The Baker’s Dog. Let’s get that sweet little guy healthy so he can eat treats for many years to come!
Best wishes on the dog! I loved the album! I’ve downloaded it, sent a donation and I’m plugging it to my friends on Facebook!
Merry Christmas! I hope the surgery goes well.

Hey, I’m another visitor for the music - I happened to revisit to see if the whole album was out, and saw this post. I hope the pup gets better soon! I just sent you a Christmas present, and will be playing the album and telling the story at the family gathering tonight. Best of wishes for y’all and the little guy.
Donated. He’s a beautiful puppy.
My cat had the same bladder problems because pet food is actually chinese-produced sh*t.
Pet owners need to buy veterinary-quality food to avoid cristallyzation in urines.
Best wishes, hope your dog gets better soon.
Hope your dog gets well soon! Have a wonderful holiday and a happy New Year! Check your Paypal!
[...] December 15, 2008 - I found out my dog, Ein, needed to have surgery. [...]
Sarie - Thanks for posting that, and for the donation.
Gregory - Sorry to get back so late, but to answer your question, we raised enough for the surgery (which went very well) plus some, which I’m putting right into the cost for the physical album so that everyone who donated $15 or more can get a nicer copy.
Faith - As always, thanks for blogging, and as far as a donation, that’s enough. I hope your dog is well.
Paul - You pet bakery sounds great. If I ever am in the area I will be sure to stop in with Ein and buy a lot of dog-goodies from you to give to him.
Heiki - We chaned his diet right away to a Vet-recommended brand when we found out he needed the surgery. You’re right, people need to watch what their pets eat just like they watch what they eat.
Hello, hope Ein is doing well. Best wishes to you and thanks for making this amazing album. Donation sent.

don’t know if Ein is done with his surgery &/or how he pulled thru.
if a donation is still needed, let me know. i can throw a few $$$ from our sites paypal fund.
too bad i dont hava Flux Capacitor of my own or i would go back & preventing this from happening in the frst place
Steven - Thanks for the kind thoughts. Ein had his surgery back in December (Monday 22, if I remember correctly) and he’s doing fantastic. At this point, donations are strictly a matter of personal preference - people can choose to donate towards the download, or $15 towards the physical CD.
[...] Such is the way of 8-bit Jesus. On this album, Doctor Octoroc (not to be confused with Kool Keith’s alter-ego, Dr. Octogon. This one is more Hyrulian in nature) has taken various sound effects and music from classic 8-bit games and reworked them into classic holiday carols. The names alone crack me up, such Carol of the Belmonts, Icarus! The Angels Sing!, Have Yourself a Final Little Fantasy, and Bubbles We Have Heard on Bobble. If you click on the link above you can download all 18 tracks for free. But, if you are truly feeling the holiday spirit, you can buy a physical version of the album for $15. Why would you want to do that? Well it seems Dr. Octoroc’s little 6-month-old Corgi, Ein, is having a bout with some stones in his bladder which is going to require a costly operation. Therefore the good Doc is trying to raise some funds for his l’il guy by selling the album. Read more about it here. [...]
Hello, I just made a $15 donation. I loved the first half of “8-Bit Jesus” and I can’t wait for the second half. Ein is very cute, and I love Corgis, so I really wanted to help. Hope everything goes well and you have a great holiday.
I mentioned your album and Ein on my blog to help get the word out too.
