Interested in a piece of nostalgic art? When it comes to fuse bead art, video game character sprites are just the beginning! I am always open for commissioned pieces of anything or anyone. Below is an example of the commission process.

Spiderman v Venom Custom Bead Sprite

Step 1: Get in touch – I can be reached via the following methods:
 a) E-mail – jazzlevi [at] yahoo [dot] com
 b) AIM - DoctorOctoroc
 c) Myspace – myspace.com/octoroc
Find me any way you please and let me know what your idea is.

Step 2: Tell me your idea – If you want a price estimate right away, the best way is to send me a picture of what you want and the approximate size you want the final piece to be. Or, you could tell me how much you want to spend, and I will size it accordingly. Also, be sure to mention any extras you might want, like whether or not you want it mounted, layered (see Skull Castle for example of a layered piece), 3-D, etc. To see a complete gallery of my work to date for ideas and other types of pieces, visit my Flickr! Sets.

Step 3: Design – Once we’ve confirmed the price and concept of your commissioned piece, I will pixel it. This may take as little as a day or as long as a week depending on the piece. Once I have the piece fully pixeled, I will send you an image of it. For layered and 3-D pieces, there will be two preview images – the first will represent the completed piece, and the second will show all the separate pieces of the finished work. If you are happy with the image, then I will bead it.

Step 4: Deposit – I prefer PayPal, but I will accept money orders as well. Depending on the piece, an initial installment may be required before I begin making it; generally around a quarter to half the total amount. Usually, this will apply to pieces with a greater material cost. For example, a small, regular, flat Bead Sprite will require no deposit amount, but a large 3-D or layered piece would require a deposit of half the total amount. Also, pieces that would be unsellable to others (ie. a beaded wedding portrait of you and your spouse) require a half deposit. You may also find that a large custom piece based on a popular comic (see Venom and Spider-Man example above) will require no deposit, as it would be tangible to sell it to another.

Step 5: Payment – Once the piece is finished, I will send you photos of the finished product. For 3-D pieces, I will send multiple photos so that you can see all angles. At this time I will estimate the shipping costs (if applicable) and request the total amount (or the remaining amount after deposit), plus shipping. After receiving cleared payment, via PayPal or money order, I will ship the piece out.

Step 6: Shipping – Since we all know the USPS is not perfect, I highly recommend purchasing insurance on all art bought and shipped online. It is your choice in the end, But if you wish to purchase insurance let me know before I estimate the costs for shipping. I package my art very well, so under normal circumstances, these pieces will hold up very well in the mail. Also let me know beforehand if you require tracking, confirmation, or any other mail services.

I hope this give you a good idea of the process.
