About the Album 8-Bit Jesus as an album of classic Christmas songs arranged in the style of classic videogames for the Nintendo Entertainment system. With tracks like "Carol of the Belmonts" and "Joy to Commando", this set of holiday favorites is the perfect soundtrack for any gamers holiday season.
Released first as a 9-track teaser on December 2, 2008, the full 18-track album was officially made available to the public on December 20th as a free download from DoctorOctoroc.com. Who Is Doctor Octoroc? Doctor Octoroc is an artist and musician from Philadelphia, PA who draws his influences, both sound and sights, from early home console gaming systems. He creates bead sprite art, composes chip-tunes, has a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Ein(stein), and is a Nintendo fan boy at heart.
While the Doc's real-world alias "Levi Buffum" is amazed at how far gaming technology has come, he appreciates a more modest era of gaming, when one could still see every pixel on the screen. |
