A Little Update for Spring

First off, I need to apologize to those that read my blog regularly for not updating more often. I’m hoping this will all change very soon. Here’s what’s going on with everything.

I got a new job at the beginning of March. I hate it very much. It takes up 13 hours of every day and the work is unbearable. As a result, I’ve been taking a few days off to look for new jobs that I won’t despise, as well as responding to emails concerning commissions, new projects and possible freelance work.

My roomate recently informed me that two design positions opened up at his company, with whom I’ve been wanting to work for the past year. I plan on applying for both positions and between the fact that I have 4 years of experience in the field, I know everyone that works there, three of the guys there have kids that love my music and the guy in charge of my pending interview commissioned a piece from me a few months ago, this should be in the bag.

On top of that, I plan on going back to school as soon as possible to get my degree in web design, coding, development, or a similar area. This will all depend on what job I end up getting.

Okay, this is where the news actually becomes relevant to the readers and fans. Oddly enough, were I to go to school full-time and work at my roomate’s company, I would have a lot more free time than I do now with my current, unimaginably horrible job. So what does this mean? It means that I will be able to work on the Dr. Horrible tribute project, finish up the After These Messages album once and for all, and have a lot more time to take commissions, do freelance work, etc.

I’m a very happy camper right now, and very optimistic about the near and distant future.

A New Look for Doctoroctoroc.com

I decided it was time for a new look for the site, following the layout and color scheme I used for my new online portfolio. It’s a little simpler and more straight-forward, which I personally prefer to the normal ”cluttered” blog look that I see a lot these days.

If anyone has feedback, I’d be interested to know what you think.

Also, I’ve set aside some space above the blog content for the latest in project news. As of this post, I’ve announced that 8-Bit Jesus is now available for digital download on CD Baby and will soon be available on iTunes, Amazon and other sites. You will also be able to purchase physical copies through these sites, but I am now selling them for the same price, including shipping!
