I usually don’t subscribe to lists, but I was tagged by Anthony from Game Music 4 All with this “challenge” of sorts, and despite the fact that my small network of blogger friends is becoming more and more like pointless Myspace bulletins everyday, it wouldn’t be fair to Anthony if I didn’t jump on the bandwagon with him. This isn’t much of a challenge, really, but since I’m rather open about my personal life on my blog, it may be difficult to dig up seven weird or interesting facts that people don’t know, so it could be a challenge for me.
- Until November of 2008, I was not a chip-tune artist. I imagine many of my readers now know me as the creator of the 8-Bit Jesus chip-tune album, but that was a a last-minute side project that exploded. Until 8-Bit Jesus, I mainly remixed classic VG tunes in dance, trance, house and industrial styles. Other musical projects included a compilation album or two, a number of live blues/reggae bands, and some experiments with a classical instruments plug-in.
- I create pixel art with plastic fuse beads. For those who have never been to my blog, my Myspace, my Pixelgasm forum, my Flickr! photostream, my deviantART gallery, or for those that don’t know me in real life, it may come as a surprise that a grown man (and I use that term lightly) in his late 20’s works with children’s crafts. Check any of those links if you don’t know what I’m talking about. The rest of you…stop laughing.
- I’m stealing this one from Anthony, because it’s true. I also have a tendancy to choose only female characters in video games. In Soul Calibur it’s the worst when I do a team battle and my characters consist of all females, but since there are only 7 in SC2, I choose Charade as my last character, hoping that “it” will mimmick Talim or Taki…I may actually be worse off than Anthony.
- Most of you know I have a 6-month-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Ein, but you may not know that I’ve wanted a Corgi named Ein since 2001. It just happens that my girlfriend also wanted a 6-month-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Ein. Lucky me! When we first got him, we thought for a solid day about other possible names, and not a single one could ever compare.
- Ever since I was young (or at least as far back as I can remember) I’ve always had a habit of taking an even number of steps, stepping on the same number of tiles in the same orientation when I’m at the supermarket, avoiding cracks in the sidewalk (or if I step on one by accident, being sure to step on another crack with the opposite foot, in the same place on that other foot as I stepped on the first), and so on. In other words, I have no clue what’s going through my mind when I do these kinds of things, it’s just always been a thing. I’ve gotten much better in recent years, but I still catch myself taking an unnecessary step here and there if I’ve taken an odd number of steps.
- I rarely play video games. It may seem odd that someone who dedicates every minute of his free time to video game related art forms doesn’t play a lot of video games, but it’s true. I will dedicate a good amount of time over the course of a few months to a game or two, but I play very few titles, and generally stick to series like Zelda, Mega Man, and Metroid. I’m a Nintendo fanboy, so I only really play their systems.
- I own lots of Gameboys. For no particular reason, I went on an eBay craze about a year ago and bought one of every kind of Gameboy I could find, and then some. This includes one of every color of GBC (including a few Japan-only versions), two Classics, two GBA Micros, a GBA SP and a regular GBA. I have yet to play any games on any of these models (with the exception of the GBA which I bought when it was released), since I generally play them through my Gameboy Player on my Gamecube. In addition to the Gameboys, I own every system ever released by Nintendo, with the exception of Virtual Boy…you know why. I also have a Sega Master System, 4 Sega Genesis’, Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast all hooked up to the same TV as my Nintendo systems, plus and Atari and Intellivision on deck. I have yet to get my hands on a Coleco Vision.
Okay, now for the tagee’s:
- Hex – I might as well add myself to the list of people bugging him to write this up.
- BadFish – I haven’t seen any females on this list yet, and she likes to cause trouble.
- Pixlberry – Another female target, and fellow bead spriter.
- Geek-Mythology – Just because Munny’s are involved.
- Jude Buffum – He may be my bro, but there might be something I don’t know yet.
- VGTO Reviews – Any fan of video game music is a friend of mine.
- Nerd Lives – I’m going to call out Ben on this one – what else are you hiding?
